Name generator#81

Not sure if this has been suggested already. It would be great if once a name is used, nobody else can use it in an established class list of names. I love that the name generator prevents kids wasting time coming up with goofy names (Kahoot can take several minutes to start if I don’t stay on top of the joining process) that also don’t allow me to know who’s who…and prevents students from finding ways to bypass any appropriateness filters and be inappropriate. But I sometimes have students play using another person’s name (so a name will be used more than once) and I can’t tell who’s who. A work around this, of course, is to count it as a graded practice, but I don’t always want to have to do that.

This is like my suggestion becuase I make a Spanish animal name class/ Spanish fruit/ vegetable class. I love making it anonymous. I agree with you entirely.

This is my suggestion as well. Sometimes one student will join as another student multiple times, and I can’t tell who it is, and it holds up the whole class. I would like there to be some type of way that students have to confirm who they are.

Think this would be a great add on!

Good news everyone:

We just released Nickname Generator for Gimkit!

When setting up your game, turn on the Nickname Generator on the game options screen.

When students join, instead of entering in their name, they’ll use an auto-generated safe nickname!

When you have Nickname Generator on, they can refresh their Nickname up to three times.

You can toggle Nickname Generator on and off before any game, so you’ve got control over whether students enter their own name or a generated Nickname.
